AdTran NetVanta 3448 Router Configuration Guide
This guide will walk you through the setup process for the AdTran NetVanta 3448 Router. It will ensure that your device is configured with the best practice configuration settings for VoIP Quality of Service (QoS).
Log in to the Router
- Install the router into your network.
- Go to 192.168.1.99 (the default IP) in the address bar of a web browser.
- The default credentials are:
Username: admin
Password: password - Click Log In.
Physical Interfaces Settings
- Click on Physical Interfaces under the Systems tab.
- Ensure that the Line Status shows Full.
QoS Wizard
Utilize the QoS Wizard to quickly apply settings to your router.
Note: This will delete any current settings you have set.
- Click the Data tab.
- Click on QoS Wizard.
- Click Next to proceed with the Wizard Setup.
- Define the WAN interface responsible for carrying VoIP and click Next.
- On the next page, enter the Average Bandwidth you would like to allocate for this traffic.

- If the connection speed is contracted at 10 Mbps assume 85% as "Average".
- Remember this entry is in bits per second, so 8.5 Mbps equals 8912896 bps.
- Set Burst at 15% of 10 Mbps, which equals 1572864 bps.
- The router should never "Burst" beyond the contracted rate.
- Convert Mbps to bps carefully using a calculator. Several are available online.

- Configure VoIP Traffic Matching:

- Select DSCP:

- Set the first DSCP field to EF.

- Select Precedence:

- Select "0", "1", "2".

- Select RTP:
-
- Set Start Port 1000
- Set End Port to 65535

- Enable Even and Odd Ports.
- It is not recommended to use the Source Address option.
- Select DSCP:

- Set the DSCP Outbound Marking setting to 26.
- Review and confirm that your settings are correct with Simple VoIP's recommendations.
QoS Maps Settings
- If you utilized the QoS Wizard, you will see QoS Map that was created by the Wizard.
- Under QoS-policy assignment and statistics select the QoS map that was created under the Outbound QoS-Policy for your WAN interface.
- Click Apply.
- You can review your settings under the Packet Matching, Packet Marking, and Queueing tabs in QoS Maps.
Firewall / ACLs Settings
- Click Firewall / ACLs under the Data tab.
- Disable SIP ALG.
- Click Apply.
Ports and Firewall Settings
