Recommended Paging Options and Set Up
SimpleVoIP supports several ways to add overhead paging to your phone system. The right solution depends primarily on whether you already have an analog paging amplifier and speakers in place or are installing a new IP-based paging system.
All paging options require a SimpleVoIP Essential License.

Grandstream HT813 + Viking PA-2A
Value Option
For customers who already have an analog paging amplifier and speaker system, the Grandstream HT813 and Viking PA-2A provide a cost-effective way to connect the existing paging equipment to SimpleVoIP.
The Grandstream HT813 provides the connection between the SimpleVoIP phone system and the analog paging equipment. The Viking PA-2A then provides the paging interface to the customer's existing amplifier.
The PA-2A provides a 600-ohm audio output that can be connected to the line-level input of many commercial paging amplifiers.
Compatibility is important with this option. Before selecting this solution, the existing paging amplifier should be reviewed to confirm its input type, impedance, audio level requirements, and speaker configuration. Additional adjustments to the amplifier or PA-2A may be required to achieve the appropriate paging volume.
The Grandstream HT813 is shipped preconfigured by SimpleVoIP to simplify installation.
Algo 8301 + Existing Paging Amplifier
Recommended Option
For customers using an existing analog paging amplifier, the Algo 8301 IP Paging Adapter & Scheduler is our recommended solution.
The Algo 8301 connects VoIP paging directly to most commercial paging amplifiers and supports inputs from 600 ohms to 10 kOhms. It can also provide contact closure for amplifiers that require activation.

Most commercial paging amplifiers with an appropriate line-level/page input can be used with the Algo 8301. Amplifier wattage, speaker type, wiring, and compatibility should still be verified before installation.
The Algo 8301 also supports SIP and multicast paging, scheduled tones, and announcements.
The Algo 8301 ships preconfigured by SimpleVoIP and is our preferred solution for customers with an existing analog amplifier and speakers.
Fully IP/SIP-Based Paging System
IP Paging Option
Customers installing a new paging system may choose to use a fully IP/SIP-based paging system instead of a traditional analog amplifier and speaker system.
With this design, paging speakers, horns, amplifiers, or controllers connect directly to the customer's network and register as SIP devices. Many IP paging devices are also powered using PoE, reducing the amount of separate paging infrastructure required.
Examples of SIP-based paging products include the Algo 8186 IP Horn Speaker and Valcom VIP-120A-V4 IP Ceiling Speaker. Other SIP-compatible paging systems may also be used.
SimpleVoIP does not configure customer-provided IP paging systems. SimpleVoIP will provide the SIP credentials required to register the paging device, and the customer or their paging/IT vendor is responsible for configuring, installing, and supporting the paging equipment.
Before purchasing an IP paging system, customers should confirm that the equipment supports standard SIP registration and is compatible with their network, PoE infrastructure, coverage requirements, and installation environment.
Which Paging Option Should I Choose?
If you already have an analog paging amplifier and want the lowest-cost integration, the Grandstream HT813 and Viking PA-2A may be a good fit.
If you already have an analog paging system and want the most flexible and reliable integration, we recommend the Algo 8301.
If you are already own your own IP paging equipment, we would recommend to convert your fully IP/SIP-based paging system.
