Snom M500 Extender/Dual Pairing
🧠Step 1 — Prep both bases
On BOTH base stations:
- Plug into network (same LAN or daisy-chain)
- Log into WebUI
- Confirm:
- Same firmware version âś…
- Both are factory default (recommended for clean pairing)
⚙️ Step 2 — Configure the PRIMARY base
On the base you want as the main:
- Go to:
- System → Multi-Cell (or DECT Settings depending on firmware)
- Set:
- Role = Primary
- Enable:
- Multi-cell / Dual-cell mode = ON
- Save / Apply
👉 This base becomes the “controller”
📡 Step 3 — Configure the SECONDARY base
On the second base:
- Go to:
- System → Multi-Cell
- Set:
- Role = Secondary
- Enter:
- Primary Base IP address
- Save / Apply
🔄 Step 4 — Force sync / reboot
- Reboot BOTH bases (important)
- Give it ~2–3 minutes
👉 During boot:
- Secondary will reach out to Primary
- They will sync configs + DECT network
✅ Step 5 — Verify pairing
On the Primary base WebUI:
- Look for:
- “Connected base stations”
- “Multi-cell status”
You should see:
- 2 bases listed
- Status = Connected / Synced
📞 Step 6 — Register handsets (important rule)
- ONLY register handsets to the Primary base
- Do NOT register anything to the secondary
👉 The system handles roaming automatically
🚨 If it doesn’t pair (common fixes)
1. Firmware mismatch
- Must be identical versions
- This is the #1 issue
2. Wrong network / VLAN
- Both bases must:
- See each other (ping test)
- Be on same subnet (ideally)
3. Multicast blocked
- Some networks block DECT sync traffic
- Test on a simple switch if unsure
4. Didn’t reboot after config
- Reboot both — seriously, it matters here
5. Wrong IP entered
- Double check Primary IP on secondary
