Snom M500/M58/M55 Common Issues Troubleshooting Guide
These are the common issues and troubleshooting steps for solving issues with the SNOM M500/M58/M55.
Issue: Audio only works on speaker mode.
Troubleshooting Steps: Device: M55 Cordless Handset
- Check if the device is enabled on speaker mode by verifying the presence of a speaker icon on the main screen. Use the speaker button to toggle the feature off.
- Deregister the handset:
- Press the MENU/Confirm key.
- Press and select (Settings), then press OK.
- Scroll to User settings, and press Enter.
- Scroll to Registration, and press Enter.
- Scroll to Deregistration, and press Sel. The “Deregistration” screen appears, showing the list of registered handsets. Your handset is indicated by **.
- Press or to select the handset you want to deregister, and press Sel.
- Enter the PIN and press OK. The default PIN is 0000. The handset beeps and displays “Handset is deregistered.”
- Register the handset:
- Make sure the base station is connected to power and the network.
- If the handset is displaying the following screen: IPEI and REG, proceed with REG. Select Auto-Reg within the sub-menu only if the custom config portion contains the new IPEI number. This may take up 2-3 minute even if the phone displays Registered.
- If the handset is displaying the following screen: Press Cancel. If the handset displays “Registration failed.” Press OK. If the handset displays “Device not registered to base station.”
- On the “Device not registered to base station.” screen, press Reg.
- With LINK key on Base highlighted, press Sel. The handset displays the following screens (press Next)
- Press and hold the LINK key on the base station for four seconds. The (power) and (SIP) LEDs flash green.
- Press the # key on the handset to begin registration. The handset displays “Registering... Please Wait.” If registration is successful: The handset beeps and displays “Handset Registered,” and then displays the idle screen.
Troubleshooting Steps: Device: M58 Desktop
- Check handset cabling and ensure the handset cable is securely plugged into the handset receiver port which has the phone icon.
- Deregister the desktop.
- Register the desktop.
Issue: Unable to Auto-Register.
Troubleshooting Steps:
- Confirm the IPEI number of the device with the custom config section.
- M55 Handset: Check label under the battery.
- M58 Desktop: Navigate to Settings > Status and locate the IPEI.
- Reboot the phone and proceed with auto-register. If it takes too long, press Cancel.
- Manually register via the LINK key on the base station.
- On the “Device not registered to base station.” screen, press Reg.
- With LINK key on Base highlighted, press Sel. The handset displays the following screens (press Next)
- Press and hold the LINK key on the base station for four seconds. The (power) and (SIP) LEDs flash green.
- Press the # key on the handset to begin registration. The handset displays “Registering... Please Wait.” If registration is successful: The handset beeps and displays “Handset Registered,” and then displays the idle screen.
Issue: Unable to make or receive calls.
Troubleshooting Steps:
- If call logs are normal hang up causes, power cycle the Snom Base Station.
- Confirm all devices are registered.
